Cindy's Big Dreams

Dental Brigades: they're one of the many ways in which CAMO is able to serve the poor communities in the mountainous regions of Honduras.

This past year, one of the dental brigades set out to attend the small community of el Ocotón. They were able to perform extractions, fillings, and flouridations on 92 children!

Among those seen that day were Cindy and her little brother. Cindy has lived all her life in el Ocotón, running through the town on her broomstick dreaming of horseback riding. This little seven year old has big aspirations, dreaming of one day becoming a doctor. She chases after her dog Pinky, scolding him as he steals food from her mother's stove and faithfully collects firewood for her family. This firewood is her family's means of living. Cindy's parents sell the wood to provide for her 5 brothers and sisters. Although it's a tough chore for such a little girl, Cindy smiles as she runs after her pet, helping her family in this task.

With little to live off of, the dental brigade provided a luxury Cindy's family could not. This small service was a large gift to such a little girl. She can now smile her big smile, and keep dreaming her dreams, thanks to the dentists who volunteer their time in CAMO's dental brigades.

Thanks to all those who help continue bringing hope to the forgotten.
