Day Care Center

CAMO has pledged its support to a local day care center that cares for approximately 60 young children of poor single parents ranging in age from 1 month to 7 years.  With the establishment of this day care center, children have a place to go while their parent’s work.  Before the day care center, the children were often left to fend for themselves or taken to work with their parents.  The lack of early stimulation and nutritional meals led to malnutrition and delayed development among the children.  Now, the children receive balanced meals and attention from the day care staff.   From donations CAMO has received, we have been able to build a kitchen, improve the bathroom facilities, replace the floor and fix the leaking roof.  The operating costs for the day care center are constant and a need remains for sponsors to pledge to support the center.   In addition to daily food needs and educational supplies in Spanish, the center is in need of mattresses for sleep time, play items and funds for food. The center is also in need of structural repairs for the leaky roof, plumbing and electrical issues. One day of food costs is one dollar per child. Structural repairs would cost $20,000.
