Prior to opening a urology program at the Santa Rosa de Copan hospital, men endured 6-12 months of difficulty and pain upon urination causing serious bladder and kidney infections. In many cases men died from renal shutdown or Sepsis. There was no intervention before it became a crisis, and by the time the hospital could take them, it was too late. Today, CAMO treats men with enlarged prostates with a simple procedure called cystoscopy. This has drastically reduced pain and suffering for the men and returned them to work quickly so they can provide for their families.
