Medical Education Teams
CAMO is founded on the belief that in order to foster growth in the quality and spectrum of public health care in developing nations it is necessary to make available both the equipment and supplies necessary to treat patients as well as the technical skills to use them. For that reason CAMO's main focus is to actively seek out medical professionals in the U.S. who volunteer to share technical knowledge with Honduran counterparts in medical fields requested by Hondurans. In this way we are sure that the skills and tools CAMO volunteers bring to the table are the most appropriate for each public health facility. CAMO volunteer physicians, nurses and technicians spend one to two weeks in Honduras, pay their own way, and take vacation time or leave without pay to participate in the development of sustainable medical programs. Many of the men and women who donate their time and skills with CAMO conduct fund raisers for their one or two week stays and would benefit from a helping hand.
