Strengthening Central American health care systems and promoting sustainable development.

Education & Training

Part of Everything We Do

CAMO is setting a new standard for health care professionals in Honduras. When CAMO establishes a service, improves a facility or installs new equipment, education and training are always part of the process. CAMO is the sole National Training Center for the American Heart Association in Honduras and is the country’s leading provider of health and safety courses. Each year, more than 1105 Honduran professionals participate in CAMO-facilitated training and education programs.

Medical Training

CAMO strengthens healthcare by investing in the professionals who remain in Honduras. Through CPR, emergency care, nursing protocols, ultrasound, specialty training, and long-term counterpart relationships, knowledge stays in the country and continues saving lives

IMPACT

In 2024–25 alone, CAMO provided 1,393 internationally recognized BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications

Teacher Training

A strong teacher can influence generations of children. CAMO equips rural educators with practical teaching methods that strengthen reading, comprehension, critical thinking, and classroom engagement.

IMPACT

Recent training brought together over 40 teachers from CAMO-supported schools to sharpen their skills and return to their classrooms better prepared to help every child succeed.

Community Education

CAMO brings practical, lifesaving knowledge directly into communities. Healthcare professionals, students, employees, and community members receive training in CPR, emergency response, prevention, and other skills they can use immediately.

IMPACT

In the most recent reporting period, 2,241 people completed CPR and emergency-care training, extending lifesaving knowledge far beyond hospitals and clinics

Literacy Programs

For children in rural Honduras, learning can be limited by far more than a lack of books. CAMO combines textbooks, reading activities, teacher support, and vision, hearing, dental, and nutrition screenings.

IMPACT

In 2025–26, 1,956 children in 16 rural schools received educational and health support designed to help them succeed.

Student Development

CAMO helps students move beyond the classroom by connecting education with practical experience, mentorship, professional skills, and service. Whether preparing future healthcare professionals, strengthening university programs, or helping young people develop workplace skills.

IMPACT

The goal is the same: equip students to become capable professionals and leaders who strengthen their own communities.

Trade Schools

A marketable skill can change the direction of a life. CAMO’s partner Trade School prepares students for employment, entrepreneurship, and greater economic independence through hands-on technical education. The construction of the adjacent women’s shelter by way of an adjoining door also allows recovering women to access trade courses as well. Such education empowers women to support themselves, strengthening them to escape their situations of domestic violence

IMPACT

In 2025, 3,522 students completed courses and workshops, gaining practical skills they can use to earn income, support families, and build stronger futures.
