When Communities Call, Your Support Helps CAMO Respond

A community health crisis. Children arriving at school hungry. Healthcare facilities running short of essential supplies. These are the moments when donated resources become more than supplies—they become a response.

On August 31, CAMO and its global partner World Vision traveled more than 240 kilometers to reach communities facing urgent needs in healthcare, mobility, and food security.

At one health clinic serving more than 20,000 people, patient visits more than doubled during the first half of 2026 compared with the same period last year—from 9,610 to 20,027. The growing demand placed significant pressure on available medical equipment and supplies.

CAMO responded with a $10,000 donation of medical equipment and supplies, including wheelchairs, crutches, nebulizers, and essential disposable medical items.

But the need extended beyond healthcare

At a local school serving more than 400 students, community leaders reported that 38 children have lost one or both parents. Some face such difficult circumstances that they arrive at school without having eaten.

As an immediate response, we delivered 40 food buckets donated by Christian Apostolic HarvestCall through CAMO’s food support efforts.

For two eight-year-old girls, the reality behind these numbers was deeply personal. One recently lost her mother to dengue after already losing her father. Another lost the older brother who had been caring for her and her three siblings. Yet both continue to dream about the futures they want to build.

Their stories are a reminder that meeting urgent needs requires more than compassion. It requires resources that can reach communities when they need them most.

The response to this visit was made possible by partnerships, donated resources, and supporters who help CAMO maintain the capacity to respond across Honduras.

Every wheelchair, medical supply, food bucket, and piece of donated equipment begins with someone choosing to give.

This year, Salsa Sizzle has a goal of raising $100,000 to help send 10 containers of donated resources from the United States to Honduras. These shipments can provide hospitals, clinics, schools, and communities with equipment and supplies that are difficult to access locally but can make an immediate difference when they arrive where they are needed.
