From a Shipping Container to a Classroom Seven 40-foot containers delivered more than $1.88 million in medical aid to 73 organizations across Honduras.
Much of CAMO’s impact begins long before a patient receives care. In the United States, volunteers receive donated medical supplies and equipment, clean and inspect each item, make repairs when needed, sort materials, record inventory, and prepare everything for shipment. About once every six
weeks, a container leaves CAMO for Honduras. This work is one of the most important—and often least visible—parts of CAMO’s mission. Because volunteers prepare these donations so carefully, CAMO Honduras can provide a high level of service while keeping costs low.
Shortly after the first container of the fiscal year arrived, nine-year-old Milagro Guadalupe came to CAMO needing a wheelchair. Milagro has received care through CAMO since birth and needed the chair to attend school safely.
