Honduras Comes Together to Support CAMO’s Future

From July 30 through August 2, Fundación CAMO Honduras welcomed thousands of people to Ruta Copán for a four-day classic car show and family festival that brought together community, culture, businesses, and families—all in support of CAMO’s future.

Organized in collaboration with the Honduran Association of Classic and Antique Cars (AHACA), the event featured 153 classic and antique vehicles from six cities across Honduras. Attendance averaged approximately 1,100 people each day, with nearly 1,500 visitors on Saturday alone.

The festival offered something for every generation. Activities included classic vehicle exhibitions and unveilings, coffee tastings and demonstrations, folkloric dance, Zumba, acoustic concerts, a children’s farm, Gamer Spot, the Ruta Copán Express train, a photo booth, and a presentation focused on preserving Honduras’ automotive history. Three artists performed each day, and a special Friday evening concert featured a rock band from Guatemala.

Children also had an opportunity to participate in an environmental drawing competition focused on water conservation. Seventeen schools and 56 children participated, bringing an important educational component to the celebration. Clowns, family activities, a gastronomic fair, and eight food vendors added to the festive atmosphere.

Just as important was the extraordinary support from the Honduran business community. Forty-three national and local companies sponsored the event, demonstrating that the work of CAMO is increasingly being embraced and supported within Honduras itself.

Most importantly, the four-day event raised $16,000 for Fundación CAMO Honduras, with proceeds designated toward CAMO’s capital project.

For our supporters in the United States, this event represents something especially meaningful. The future of CAMO is not being built by U.S. donors alone. Honduran businesses, professionals, families, schools, artists, volunteers, and community leaders are investing alongside us. Their participation demonstrates local ownership and a shared commitment to building sustainable healthcare and educational capacity for generations to come.
